Melissa McCarthy Joins New Judd Apatow Project
The Bridesmaids scene-stealer has signed on to join Judd Apatow’s upcoming comedy, which is set to be a spin-off of Knocked Up.
The tentatively-titled Turning 40 will feature Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann reprising their roles of Pete and Debbie from the 2007 film.
McCarthy will play a mother whose son, to be played by Super 8‘s Ryan Lee, attends the same school as Pete’s and Debbie’s children.
Albert Brooks and Megan Fox are also reported to be members of the cast.
Apatow will write and direct the film, and Barry Mendel and Clayton Townsend will produce.
Bridesmaids and Super 8 are currently playing in theaters.
