We’ve previously reported about SuperHeavy’s upcoming album, but an official release date has now been announced. SuperHeavy’s first record will officially hit stores Sept. 20.
SuperHeavy is made up of Mick Jagger, Joss Stone, Dave Stewart, Damian Marley and Slumdog Millionaire composer A.R. Rahman.
Jagger told The Hollywood Reporter that the group entered the studio with merely ideas and tiny bits of lyrics and some guitar parts.
“It’s not my usual sort of way of working,” Jagger said. “You always want to leave some room for improvisation, but you need to have something, some songs, when you walk into the studio. It evolved very quickly. We sat around with our little pads (writing). We did do a lot of jams but it’s all coherent and arranged. We just wrote them quickly.”
The group recorded 29 songs in merely 10 days, totaling up to over 35 hours of music. No word on how much of this will make this to the final cut of the album.
