Reggie Watts Talks James Murphy Collaboration

When it was announced that James Murphy would perform solo at the Sonar Music Festival and the Virgin Mobile FreeFest, it was clear that the former LCD Soundsystem frontman wasn’t out of the music game just yet. What no one could have seen coming, however, was a collaboration with innovative Seattle comic/musician Reggie Watts.

“James and I might be doing a single sometime soon,” Watts told Vulture. “It’s still 60 percent loose, but he seems down to do it and I think it would be fun to work with him. That would be great.”

While the comedian was hesitant to call the project a sure thing, he was surprisingly specific about what it would entail.

“I think it’s going to be a seven-inch single with a remix on the other side. I would be the vocals and we would probably be doing some kind of a cover. I’m going to guess sometime next year, early next year, or maybe — he’s a fast dude! Maybe he’ll turn one around.”
