According to The Playlist, Jónsi (Sigur Rós) has been tapped to score the forthcoming film from Almost Famous director Cameron Crowe.
We Bought A Zoo is based on the Benjamin Mee memoir that tells the story of how the author and his family exhausted their life savings to buy Dartmoor Zoological Park and its 200 exotic animals. The film stars Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson, Thomas Haden Church and Elle Fanning and is scheduled to open Dec. 23.
A popular choice for musically inclined filmmakers, Sigur Rós’ work has been featured in multiple films including: The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Girl in the Cafe, Penelope and in the trailers for Children of Men and Slumdog Millionaire. In fact, Crowe himself has a history with the group, collaboring with Jónsi and company for the 2001’s Vanilla Sky.
Crowe announced the Icelandic artist’s involvement during this weekend’s Television Critics Association press tour saying the film would be a “a music-filled experience.”
