John Slattery to Direct Another Mad Men Episode

John Slattery to Direct Another Mad Men Episode

After successfully showing his directing skills last season, Mad Men’s John Slattery will direct another episode in the upcoming fifth season.

Slattery, who plays Roger Sterling on AMC’s Emmy-winning series, previously directed two episodes of the fourth season. Now, the actor tells The Hollywood Reporter that the show’s creator, Matt Weiner, has been “very generous” to let him direct.

“It’s a real leap of faith,” said Slattery. “You don’t want to be the one to screw it up.”

“When you direct, you’re involved with tone meetings, dealing with the studio, producers, all the way through editing,” he added. “Needless to say, it’s very difficult to act in an episode you’re also directing.”

Jon Hamm, who plays Don Draper, will also direct an episode. Hamm will take the lead on Mad Men’s fifth season premiere, which is set to premiere early next year.
