Here at Paste we’re no strangers to the excellent work of Lucinda Williams. Back in 2008 we listed “Jailhouse Tears,” her duet with Elvis Costello off of her album Little Honey, as number 5 on our list of best country/rock duets of recent years.
Just this past Tuesday, Williams released a music video for her song “Copenhagen” off of her most recent album, March’s Blessed (her tenth studio album and eleventh album overall). The song is about William’s reaction to the death of her manager Frank Callari back in 2007. This is the first time Lucinda Williams has released a music video for any of her music at all, a notable first considering her impressive award-winning career spans over 30 years.
The animated video, directed by Squidbillies co-creator Dave Willis, follows the life of a couple after the man suffers serious injury and is forced to spend the rest of his life in a robot suit. Check it out below:

Lucinda has made a long format music video for the 'Blessed' album - http://vimeo.com/20759945 - so this must be the 2nd music video of her career! Very cool.
I thought the video was nice - on it's own! Much of Lucinda's work, and this song in particular, is subtle and evocative and so it just felt weird to be watching an animation about a man in a robot suit while I listened to it. Maybe there's a reason she doesn't make videos!
