Vampire Weekend Settles Lawsuit with Contra Model

Ann Kirsten Kennis—better known as the indifferent, polo-equipped model on the cover of Vampire Weekend’s 2010 album, Contra—has settled a lawsuit with the band and its record label, XL Records, Photo District News reports.

Kennis’ lawsuit came shortly after Contra’s release, alleging that photographer Tom Brody provided her Polaroid image to the band without her consent and also forged a release form. Court records showed that Brody was paid $5,000 for the image’s license. Details of the settlement, which was reached Aug. 11, were not immediately disclosed.

The court, however, has not dismissed a counter-claim filed on behalf of Vampire Weekend and XL Records against Brody. The photographer is now defending himself after his attorneys withdrew from his case in June, mainly due to his failure to pay legal bills.
