A musical about Kanye West will be staged in Australia early next month. Sydney University students have produced a story that will follow the hip-hop mogul from his days in Chicago through becoming an in-demand producer before finally tackling his fame as one of the greatest living rappers.
Philip Rosser, the mastermind behind the project, posted a synopsis on the official Facebook page of the musical, “This is a story of a struggle against the man to become the man. It’s about a guy who took a shot at the throne and didn’t miss.” The musical will not contain West’s music, but will feature all new songs composed by Rosser and Damien Higginbottom.
Kanye: The Musical will be run at the Verge Festival from Sept. 5 to 7.
