Read a List of Rejected Toy Story Titles

On Tuesday, Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich took to his Twitter to post a list of rejected titles for Toy Story. The director said that out of desperation to come up with a title, Pixar made an open call to its employees to pitch their own movie titles. Unkrich said that over 200 titles were pitched; the result, as you can see below, was sort of a disaster.

Unkrich posted the first batch of titles at random. Afterward, he put out a list that he called “bottom-of-the-barrel rejected Toy Story titles,” after tweeting “There’s a reason these were rejected, guys…”

After looking at the lists, it looks like the producers made a good call by just sticking with Toy Story.

Here are Unkrich’s two lists of Toy Story titles:

Alternate titles:
Spurs & Rockets
The Cowboy & The Spaceman
Wind-Up Heroes
To Infinity and Beyond
Moving Buddies
Made in Taiwan
The New Toy

“Bottom-of-the-barrel” titles:
Bring Me the Arm of Buzz Lightyear
Wind the Frog
Rex’s First Movie
For the Love of Peep
Toyz in the Hood
Each Sold Separately
Wings & Pullstrings
Some Assembly Required
The Favorite
