Star of Spider-Man Musical To Play Jeff Buckley in Biopic

After taking the lead in the much-publicized Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, Reeve Carney will also be taking on the coveted role of Jeff Buckley in a new biopic.

Carney will star in the as-yet-untitled film, which will be directed by Welcome to the Rileys’ Jake Scott and adapted from David Browne’s book Dream Brother: The Lives and Music of Jeff and Tim Buckley by Ryan Jaffe, the writer of The Rocker, according to MTV.

While Carney’s film has been given the OK by Buckley’s mother and will feature music from Buckley, that hasn’t stopped two other films about the Grace singer from going into the works. Greetings From Tim Buckley will star Penn Badgley of Gossip Girl, and an Australian film, A Pure Drop, is also in development.
