Dane Cook, NBC Agree to Developmental Deal
Remember when Dane Cook was genuinely funny? You know, before he was accused of stealing jokes and acting in under par romantic comedies? We do too, and hopefully his new developmental deal with NBC will bring Cook back to the level of Harmful If Swallowed humor.
The deal comes after he had two failed pilots, both called Cooked, early in his career. Neither of were picked up by a network and were subsequently released by Cook on DVD. The new show will be produced via his SUperFInger Entertainment company and will either premiere next fall or as a mid-season replacement for the next season.
Cook’s half-hour sitcom does not have a plot, but is joining NBC after fellow comedian Sarah Silverman signed on to produce a series about her own life. This follows this season’s squandering Whitney via Whitney Cummings and the upcoming Chelsea Handler sitcom, Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea.
