Dustin Hoffman to Make His Directorial Debut with Quartet

Dustin Hoffman will finally make his directorial debut with Quartet, a film based on a play about four aging opera singers. This comes three decades after his first attempt, Straight Times, spent months in development hell before being scrapped completely.

In his debut, Hoffman will direct a plethora of stars including Maggie Smith, Billy Connolly, Tom Courtenay, Pauline Collins and Michael Gambon. Production started today in England and will last nine weeks. The film will be produced by BBC Films and DMC Productions.
