Hopkins, Baumbach Turning Jonathan Franzen’s The Corrections Into HBO Show

HBO had hit shows based on books like Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones, it is no surprise that their next show may be based on Jonathan Franzen’s critically acclaimed novel The Corrections.

Greenberg and The Squid and the Whale writer-director Noah Baumbach is supposedly working to adapt the book, which follows the Lambert family over several decades of their lives. Also rumored to be interested is Anthony Hopkins, who would play the father of the Lambert family, Alfred. It is not clear whether the show would be a ongoing series or a mini-series.

Scott Rudin, who has recently produced such films as True Gritand The Social Network, would produce the show.

When The Corrections was released in 2001, it received many awards, including the National Book Award, was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 greatest novels since 1923 and became a selection for Oprah’s Book Club.
