Coming off the heels of his Pink Floyd tribute week, unabashed music nerd Jimmy Fallon has managed to rope in in a couple more acclaimed British acts to perform on Late Night: Radiohead and Portishead.
Radiohead’s appearance on Fallon’s show doesn’t come as much of a surprise. They have been on an abrupt and seemingly endless flurry of activity after months of silence since the release of The King of Limbs. First they began releasing remixes of songs from the album and performed the album live for Nigel Godrich’s From the Basement series. Suddenly they were on SNL, then The Colbert Report, then played back-to-back shows in N.Y.C., then announced a 2012 tour, and now today, have been the subject of what might be one of the biggest trollings in recent memory, in which they were rumored to perform this afternoon at a Wall Street protest — a rumor which was confirmed and then quickly denied. Radiohead will appear on Monday, Oct. 3 and perform The King of Limbs ballad “Give Up the Ghost.”
Portishead’s activity has been a bit quieter. In fact, the group had hardly been heard from since the release of 2008’s Third until earlier this year, when plans for a new album and tour were announced. Now the experimental band has busied itself curating the lineup for a festival (All Tomorrow’s Parties’ “I’ll Be Your Mirror” in New Jersey). What’s more, their appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon will be their first TV appearance in 13 years — roughly the same length of time that has passed since their previous U.S. tour. Portishead will perform on Wednesday, Oct. 5, but it is unknown what material they’ll play.
Clive Deamer, who has been serving alongside Radiohead as drummer Phil Selway’s bald doppelganger in the band’s recent live appearances, is conveniently the touring drummer for Portishead — meaning he’ll be present in both televised performances.

Awesome. I was wondering when Portishead would have a new album out!
