<i>Office</i> Producer Looks To Adapt Another British Comedy

Greg Daniels, one of the producers behind an American adaptation featuring a certain Michael Scott, is now looking across the Atlantic for another comic goldmine: Friday Night Dinner, a British comedy about a “rough-around-the-edges” but traditional English-Jewish family and the Friday night Shabbat dinners they have. According to Deadline, the series began airing its first six-hour season this past February and also recently began airing on BBC America.

It should be noted that Americanizing British TV shows has been, in fact, going on for quite some time now and produced some of the most well-known American series.

While it is unclear whether Daniels will be writing or merely supervising the development, he has an incredibly successful track record in the genre of TV comedies, including not only The Office, but also Parks and Recreation and King of the Hill.
