It’s only four years until the events of Back to the Future Part II are supposed to take place. While most of the film’s creations don’t look like they’re going to make the 2015 date (hoverboards, flying cars, an entire family played by Michael J. Fox), with the help of Nike, Marty McFly’s self-lacing shoes may become a reality.
According to NikeKicks, Nike has released a press box that included a iPod Shuffle with a message from Doc Brown, a note saying “It’s About Time”, a copy of the metal shield glasses worn in the film and other ‘80s-related paraphernalia.
This all coincides with the fact that Nike filed a patent for shoes that look suspiciously like the Nike Air Mags worn by McFly. As if that wasn’t enough to arise suspicions, a video posted on YouTube by DocEmmettBrown88 called “McFly’s Closet” shows shelves packed with the Nike shoes.
