Sufjan Stevens to Perform Beyond This Place Soundtrack Live at BAM Screening

On Oct. 30, Sufjan Stevens and Castanets’ Raymond Raposa will perform the soundtrack to Kaleo La Belle’s Beyond This Place live at a screening of the film at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, as part of the organization’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

Beyond This Place documents filmmaker La Belle’s troubled reunion with his recreational drug-using cyclist father, who was absent for most his childhood. Stevens, a childhood friend of La Belle, composed the score for the film alongside Raposa. The film premiered last year and won awards at both the Krakow and Visions du Réel film festivals.
