A trailer was released yesterday for Amy Winehouse’s last completed work. The song is a duet with Tony Bennett called “Body and Soul,” which will appear on Tony Bennett: Duets II. The song will be released as a video and a single on iTunes on Sept. 14, Winehouse’s birthday, and all proceeds will go toward the Amy Winehouse Foundation. Sept. 14 will also be the launch date for the foundation, which was founded by Amy Winehouse’s father, Mitch.
The preview shows an excited, almost fan-girl side of Winehouse discussing working with Bennett. And it seems like the cut “Body and Soul” had a lot of significance to her. As she says in the interview, it was her father’s favorite song.
“When my dad saw me and Tony would be singing ‘Body and Soul,’ my dad, personally, himself, he was like, ‘Oh, it’s only my favorite song in the world you’re going to sing, Oh my God! Do you even know it?’ and I was like, of course I know it, Mitchell. I’m your daughter, of course I know it. It was really exciting that he chose that song because I do love it. It’s such a beautifully written song.”
