Waterstone's Announces Upcoming Kindle Competitor
British book retailer Waterstone’s plans on debuting their own eBook reader to directly compete with Amazon’s currently dominant Kindle, according to BBC News. Paul Daunt, the managing director brought in after the purchase of Waterstone’s by Russian business man Alexander Mamut, was inspired by the success of American retailer Barnes & Noble’s Nook eBook reader.
According to Daunt, “We in Waterstone’s need to offer you a digital reader which is at least as good, and preferably substantially better, than that of our internet rival, and you will have a much better buying experience purchasing your books through us.”
Waterstone’s plans to release their eBook reader in spring of 2012.
