With the Xbox 360, you can play video games, watch movies, listen to music and much more. But by the end of the year, you may be able to use your console to watch a multitude of television channels.
Showing off the technology in Anaheim, Calif., today at an event entitled BUILD, Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer showcased the ability to watch TV through the system. The functionality should be available by Christmas of this year and would allow access of up to hundreds of different channels, theoretically.
It is rumored that the technology will allow users to receive satellite or cable networks to watch their programs through their 360.
Xbox 360 already has many different television and film options available. Netflix, Hulu and ESPN are all already available, as well as the ability to download directly television shows and movies.
