Akira Looks To Add Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham-Carter
After the recent announcement that Tron: Legacy star Garrett Hedlund was in talks to play the cyberpunk gang-leader Kaneda, the studio behind the live-action adaptation of Akira now has added some other big names on their list. According to TwitchFilm, veterans Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham-Carter have recently been offered the roles as The Colonel and Lady Miyako.
Although the announcement likely won’t please those hoping that Asian-American actors might take the leads (similar to complaints over last year’s The Last Airbender), the Academy Award-winning performers should give the film a healthy dose of legitimacy.
