Skype Creators To Launch "Vdio" To Challenge Netflix

If it wasn’t already apparent that music and video streaming were two sides of the same coin, the creators of Rdio announced their new startup, Vdio, yesterday. The internet startup veterans who created Skype and other music sharing applications like Kazaa are now jumping into the world of online video streaming that includes big names like Netflix and Amazon.

Although specifics on Vdio (pronounced Vee-dee-oh) are scarce, according to Gigaom its clear that Vdio will be looking to get into streaming television shows and movies (with no pricing or launch date announced yet). When asked what the difference between Vdio and Netflix were, they responded saying that “people will love using Vdio.”
