As previously reported, Orange Amplifiers’ benefit concert in support of Criminal Records is planned for Oct. 15 at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, Ga.
A press release for the record store announced today that Patterson Hood of Drive-By Truckers will play the event with fellow DBT members Brad Morgan and Jay Gonzalez. Hood will play songs from the Drive-By Truckers catalog, along with songs from his solo career.
The event has also added garage-rockers Carnivores and performance artists The Back Pockets to the lineup. The event’s lineup also includes Kelly Hogan and the original lineup of Magnapop, who will play their Michael Stipe-produced record in its entirety. Tickets for the event are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, and donations can be made by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
The benefit comes after Sept. 6, when Eric Levin, the owner of the Atlanta-based record store and Record Store Day co-creator, announced that the store was expected to close as soon as November if debts were not resolved. All proceeds from the event will be split between Criminal Records and Sweet Relief, an organization that provides financial assistance to struggling musicians.
You can purchase tickets to the event at Variety Playhouse’s website and check out the Save Criminal Facebook page.
