Robert Pollard and company announced Let’s Go Eat The Factory today, a 21-track album that Pollard calls the “semi-collegial” approach to Guided By Voices as seen in albums like Bee Thousand and Alien Lanes. It’s set for a Jan. 1 release on GBV Inc.
The album was recorded in living rooms, basements and garages of band members in lieu of hitting the recording studio, and band members switched instruments on some of the tracks. Members that appear on the album include Robert Pollard, Tobin Sprout, Mitch Mitchell, Greg Demos, Kevin Fennell and Jimmy Pollard.
A press release for the band says to expect a classic Guided By Voices feel, but with more use of keyboards and samples. Some of the track titles are “Chocolate Boy,” “We Won’t Apologize for the Human Race,” “Doughnut For A Snowman,” which Robert Pollard called “the goofiest, twinkliest song I’ve ever written.”
Mojo released a full track list for the album, which you can see below.
