Island to Release New Amy Winehouse Album

As it turns out, Amy Winehouse’s collaboration with Tony Bennett, which was widely reported as her final release, will not be the last fans hear from Amy Winehouse. As the BBC reports, a full album of songs titled The Lioness: Hidden Treasures will act as her follow-up to 2006’s Back to Black. It will be released Dec. 5 on her record label, Island.

The album features songs that were recorded after Back to Black’s release, and as father Mitch Winehouse told the BBC, it’s a fitting tribute to his late daughter.

“If the family had felt that this album wasn’t up to the standard of Frank and Back To Black we would never have agreed to release it,” Mitch Winehouse told the BBC.

The album came together after Winehouse’s producers Salaam Remi and Mark Ronson went through old collaborations with Winehouse.
