Renaissance man James Franco has just pulled out of an upcoming biopic about notorious mafia hitman Richard “The Iceman” Kuklinski. The film, which is called The Iceman is based off of Anthony Bruno’s biography of Kuklinski and is to be directed by Ariel Vroman.
Franco was going to play Kuklinski’s (played by Michael Shannon) mentor Robert “Mr. Softee” Prong, but pulled out due to contractual disagreements, reports JustJared.com. Benicio Del Toro and Maggie Gyllenhaal also are slated to star in the mafia film.
