While Johnny Depp’s production company Infinitum Nihil is working with to create a biopic based on the life of Dr. Seuss, Depp is considering starring as the children’s author as well.
The biopic is being released by Universal, who also released the live action version of Seuss books How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Cat in the Hat and is working with Illumination Entertainment for next year’s CGI retelling of another Seuss story, The Lorax.
The film will be live action, but producers will neither confirm nor deny the possibility of animation being a part of the film.
Dr. Seuss’ books sold over 200 million copies worldwide. Dr. Seuss, whose real name was Theodor Geisel, also did political cartoons during World War II. Geisel died in 1991 from throat cancer.
