Lizzy Caplan Joins the Cast of New Girl

It’s always nice to see Party Down alumni doing well in the biz. TVLine reported yesterday that the short-lived comedy’s witty female lead Lizzy Caplan will make an appearance on Fox’s new hit comedy New Girl as part of a multi-episode story arc.

The new show stars Zooey Deschanel as central character Jess Day. Caplan will reportedly play Julia, a worldly, sophisticated love interest of Deschanel’s character’s roommate, Nick Miller (played by Jake Johnson). Apparently, Jess will get a chance to meet Julia at a roommate’s birthday party—and since Deschanel and Caplan rival one another as quirky yet gorgeous brunettes, you can practically taste the potential drama that’s sure to unfold in future episodes.

The future bodes well for New Girl: Though only three episodes have aired so far, ratings reports reveal the show has won the crucial 18-to-49 demographic every week.
