Ever since the beginning discussions of The Adventures of Tintin there have been talks that the project would be a trilogy. With Steven Spielberg directing the first installment, there was always the possibility that producer Peter Jackson would take on the second. Today it has been officially announced that Jackson will direct the second Tintin film.
The second film, The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of Sun, was already announced as being written by Anthony Horowitz. Jackson should start working on the sequel after he has finished directing The Hobbit, the two-part prequel to The Lord of the Rings. The first Tintin film The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn will be released on Dec. 21.
