Starz Making New Show About Young Da Vinci

With historical mystery franchises like The Da Vinci Code, National Treasure and Assassin’s Creed becoming incredible successes in the last few years, it’s surprising there haven’t been many attempts for television to get into this budding genre. Now, Starz will attempt to with the help of the co-writer of The Dark Knight.

The show, called Da Vinci’s Demons, has already been picked up for eight episodes and was written by David Goyer. The show follows Leonardo Da Vinci when he is 25 in Florence, Italy. Da Vinci is trying to figure out who he is during this time period in his life, and Goyer has said that “this will be a show about secret histories, genius, madness and all things profane.”

Goyer has previously worked on the show Flash Forward and is currently also working on 100 Bullets for Showtime, based on the comic series of the same name. Goyer has also previously written Batman Begins, Dark City and Blade II. His future projects include working on a remake of The Invisible Man, writing the reboot of Godzilla and writing Man of Steel, the newest Superman installment.
