“Woohoo!”, seems like an appropriate response to the news that The Simpsons won’t be seeing its end this or next year but rather will be on for at least two more seasons.
The Simpsons has just been renewed for its 24th and 25th seasons, after salary disputes questioned the return of the long-running animated series. The show is now guaranteed to run until 2013, and will be the longest running sitcom in US television history.
The budget for The Simpsons has been reduced over the last few years to set off rising costs, yet the voice cast has stated that they would like more money on the back end of the show, meaning they would receive a percentage of the profits made from merchandising off the show.
While the terms for their return have not been made public yet, the cast has allowed a 30 percent pay cut and they will not be receiving money on the back end. While 30 percent may seem like a lot, the cast will still receive $300,000 per episode.
