It looks like something in Hollywood can last shorter than Kim Kardashian’s wedding. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences search for a new host is one of those things. They have not only replaced the producer for the 84th Academy Awards telecast, but reportedly have just picked up legendary Oscars host Billy Crystal.
Sure, we’re disappointed that the Muppets won’t be hosting, but Crystal has proven time and time again that he is one of the best hosts in the history of the ceremony. We reported back in August that Crystal was interested in the gig and he recently tweeted, “Am doing the Oscars so the young woman in the pharmacy will stop asking my name when I pick up my prescriptions. Looking forward to the show.”
Neither the Academy nor recently-named producer Brian Grazer have yet to make a statement.
