New Bond Movie Titled Skyfall, Details Emerge

We no longer have to refer to Daniel Craig’s third stint as Agent 007 as Bond 23. The Sam Mendes-directed film officially received its title today: Skyfall, Deadline reports.

At a press conference this morning, producers ensured the budget would not be slashed, and Mendes denied rumors that this film would contain less action than previous Bond films. “There will be plenty of surprises,” Mendes promised. “The action needs to be balanced with the drama.”

Mendes also revealed he is open to directing another installment, stating, “If I still feel that it’s as much fun in six months’ time then the answer is yes.”

As previously reported, Javier Bardem will play the main villain in a film where Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her; MI6 comes under attack, and Bond must track down and destroy the threat.

Filming begins at the beginning of next week, and the movie will be released on Oct. 26, 2012 in the UK and Ireland followed by a premiere in North America on Nov. 9, 2012.
