Craig Finn Announces Clear Heart Full Eyes Release

The Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn will release his first solo album on Jan. 24 on Vagrant Records. The album, Clear Heart Full Eyes, came about when Finn started writing a song every day in his Brooklyn apartment. The songs weren’t exactly in The Hold Steady’s realm, which is something Finn acknowledges in a press release.

“I had written a bunch of songs that were outside of the norm for The Hold Steady, a little quieter and perhaps more narrative,” Finn said. “I wanted to gain some experience and insight into the process of making a record by working with new people.”

Clear Heart Full Eyes was recorded in Austin, Texas, by Spoon producer Mike McCarthy. In the press release, Finn said The Hold Steady are also working on their sixth album.
