Deerhoof to Release Limited Edition 7-Inch with David Bazan

San Francisco-based experimental rock trio Deerhoof has recently begun a new series of collaborations in which a special guest artist sings his or her original lyrics over instrumental versions of Deerhoof songs, with each end result being released as an exclusive 7-inch record limited to 2,000 copies.

Deerhoof’s newest collaboration of this sort is with David Bazan of Headphones and Pedro the Lion. The limited-edition 7-inch is titled DeerBazan and is slated for a Jan. 17 release.

On the A-side, Bazan will interpret Deerhoof’s “No One Asked to Dance” from this year’s effort Deerhoof Vs. Evil. Featuring new lyrics and vocals penned by Bazan himself, the song has appropriately been re-dubbed “No One Asked Bazan to Dance.” The B-side will showcase Bazan revamping “Gas and Matches,” a popular song from his tenure in the short-lived synth-rock group Headphones.

The same day DeerBazan drops, Deerhoof will reissue their acclaimed 2002 album Reveille on specially made light blue vinyl.

Track listing for DeerBazan:

1. No One Asked Bazan to Dance
2. Gas and Matches
