NME reported today that Gorillaz will be recording and releasing a new track for February 2012 as a part of Converse’s “Three Artists. One Song” series. The track’s release will go with a new collection of Converse shoes, which were designed in association with the band.
Gorillaz are also hosting a club night called “Gorillaz Sound System” at London’s 100 Club, the same club that Converse stepped in to save last February.
The series in the past has featured Soulja Boy, Andrew WK, Matt and Kim on one track and Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij, Kid Cudi and Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino on another.
With the announcement of a new Gorillaz track, this is looking to be a busy year for the group’s mastermind, Damon Albarn, who said another little group of his is getting back together.
