Harold & Kumar May Become a TV Show
Harold and Kumar have searched New Jersey for White Castle, escaped from Guantanamo Bay and last week released their newest Christmas adventure. Now the duo might be tackling television.
Lionsgate TV is shopping around the potential animated series to prospective channels like MTV, HBO and Comedy Central. John Cho and Kal Penn have already signed on to voice the two main characters. The writers of the film trilogy, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, are attached to write for the show. Neil Patrick Harris hasn’t made any commitment yet, but the creators would like to have him make occasional appearances, if he is able to.
Hurwitz said in a recent interview about the show: “What we feel is what works about these movies is the two central characters. It’s this sort of multi-cultural odd couple that everyone’s grown to know and love, and you just take these two guys and you put them in any kind of movie and we feel like we could bring them on a ridiculous and surreal adventure Just the fact that you could take these characters and put them in these different types of movies led us to think, ‘You know what, maybe we could do an animated TV show as well which gives us the freedom to take these guys, and go anywhere with them.’”
The show would also not replace the movies, but plans would be to keep making movies while also making the show.
