Jessica Chastain To Play Princess Diana In New Biopic

At the American Film Market, plans were announced to make a new biopic about Princess Diana starring Jessica Chastain.

Caught in Flight will focus on an affair Princess Diana had with Dr. Hasnat Khan, a heart surgeon. The two were together for two years before her divorce from Prince Charles. The two quit seeing each other in 1997. The movie has been called a “love story between a princess locked in a tower and an ordinary man.”

Chastain has had a busy year, after roles in The Help, The Tree of Life, Take Shelter and The Debt. Oliver Hirschbiegel, who also directed Downfall and The Invasion is slated to direct and will be from a screenplay written by Steven Jeffreys, who wrote The Libertine.

The film is planning to shoot in March 2012 and is said to not be a flattering look at the princess. While two films about Diana have been previously announced, one starring Charlize Theron and the other starring Keira Knightley, not much else has been released about the two other films.
