On Oct. 31, dream-folk-pop duo Mazzy Star announced their return to music after a hiatus that endured for over 10 years with a double A-side single, Common Burn / Lay Myself Down. Since the group’s output has been sparse throughout their career, many fans feared this was the only new Mazzy Star material the world would get.
Now those fears can be legitimately put to rest: NME reported that Mazzy Star plans to release a new LP and embark on a tour in 2012. The forthcoming album will be the band’s fourth studio effort and its first since 1996’s Among My Swan.
No official album title or release date has been announced yet, but Mazzy Star plans to put out the record after they embark on a tour during the early part of next year. The official tour dates will be announced soon.
