The U.K. edition of the Official PlayStation Magazine has an upcoming cover featuring game design luminary Hideo Kojima, with a blurb teasing details about a fifth Metal Gear Solid game.
The U.K. OPM’s website also has an article on the upcoming issue confirming the reveal: “As part of our world exclusive chat and photo shoot, he also gives his open and frank opinions on Metal Gear Solid Rising—the first PlayStation MGS he’s neither written nor directed—and openly discusses his plans for Metal Gear Solid 5 and Project Ogre for the first time.”
Despite the initial claims that MGS4 would be the final game in the series (at least the final game featuring Solid Snake, given what happens in the end), the gaming world was already shocked with the reveal of Metal Gear Rising at 2009’s E3 conference, so this new reveal shouldn’t surprise anyone.
Given that particular wrap-up ending of the last game though, we’re betting on a prequel a la MGS3: Snake Eater.
