NBC's Prime Suspect Ordered To Shut Down Production

NBC’s mid-season shake-up has caused quite a stir. Some shows left off of the schedule warranted a bigger outcry than others, but no show goes unnoticed. Freshman cop drama Prime Suspect was left off of the line-up, and now cast and crew have been asked to shut down production, Deadline reports.

The remake of a popular British miniseries suffered from low ratings since premiering in the Thursday night 10 p.m. spot that followed a weak lead-in via the disappointing Whitney. Maria Bello, who played a character originated by Helen Mirren, and the rest of the cast will finish filming the 13th episode before shutting down production.

This season will end after 13 episodes, but the show is not officially canceled. NBC is still considering the possibility of a second season being picked up.
