Watch a New Trailer for <i>The Iron Lady</i>

Earlier today a new trailer was released for the The Iron Lady, the upcoming biographical film about controversial and highly influential former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher starring the acclaimed 16-time Academy Award nominee Meryl Streep.

Thatcher was the U.K.’s first and only female prime minister to date. During her time in office she oversaw the 1982 Falklands War between the U.K. and Argentina and instituted widespread financial deregulation and industry privatization, all of which contributed to her status as a polarizing political force.

The Iron Lady is directed by Phyllida Lloyd, who previously directed Streep in the wildly successful 2008 film adaptation of the musical Mamma Mia!. The film is due for release later this year on Dec. 30. Watch the trailer below.
