Oscars Announce Documentary Shortlist

This weekend The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced their 15 finalists for the Documentary Feature category, narrowed down from 124 prospective nominees.

The final list excludes some pretty high-profile documentary releases from the last year, including Tabloid, Senna, Into the Abyss, The Greatest Movie Ever Sold and The Interrupters.

The final five nominees will be announced on Jan. 24, 2012. The shortlist can be seen below:
