Ridley Scott's Upcoming Blade Runner Project "Liable To Be a Sequel"

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy blog, acclaimed director Ridley Scott officially announced that he is on board to direct the Blade Runner follow-up and that the project was “liable to be a sequel.”

Furthermore, Scott added that they were already deep into the project: ““I think I’m close to finding a writer that might be able to help me deliver, we’re quite a long way in, actually.”

Despite releasing as a box-office flop, Scott’s 1982 future-noir epic went on to cult status and is now regarded as one of the most influential science fiction films of the past few decades. Fans of the original expecting a return of Harrison Ford shouldn’t get their hopes up though, as Scott says the new project is moving forward “not with the past cast, of course."
