In a move very uncharacteristic for the director, Terrence Malick has announced he will be shooting two films next year.
Since his feature debut with 1973’s Badlands, Malick has only made five films, including this year’s The Tree of Life. FilmNation, who will be releasing the two movies, has announced that they will be shot back-to-back next year.
Lawless will star Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara. The second film, Knight of Cups will also feature Bale and Blanchett.
Malick has also already filmed and is currently editing a film starring Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams, tentatively titled The Burial. As if that’s not enough, he is prepping an IMAX documentary that could possibly be a companion piece to The Tree of Life.
