Flaming Lips Announce New Year's Shows

In a year of song lengths ranging from six hours to 24 hours, the Flaming Lips are capping their musically experimental year with their fifth annual New Year’s Freakout party. According to Consequence of Sound, the Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band will be opening for the experimental rock band and for both Oklahoma City shows.

The Lips will also be selling their creepy, exclusive memorabilia at the shows, including new music that comes packaged with things like a gummy fetus and a USB-powered light illusion toy. If that isn’t the proper way to send out 2011, we don’t know what it is.

The tickets went on sale last Friday and will cost you $100, or $150 for both nights. In addition to the New Year’s shows, the band also announced a special holiday show in Aspen, Colorado on Dec. 27. Check out the dates below.

December
27 – Aspen, Col. @ The Bell Up
31 – Oklahoma City, Okla. @ Bricktown Events Center

January
1 – Oklahoma City, Okla. @ Bricktown Events Center
