Watch The Roots' Video for "Stomp"

Continuing their build-up to the release of their new album, The Roots released a new video for a track called “Stomp.” While it’s just a minute-and-half clip of the song, the track has an excellent guest spot by P.O.R.N. and a great beat to boot. Meanwhile, the video, which was made entirely by Clifton Brown, gives us some more insight into the narrative of the concept album.

This description attached to the video gives us more detail about how undun will play out conceptually and also how “Stomp” fits in:

“undun is an existential re-telling of the short life of one Redford Stephens (1974-1999). Through the use of emotives and Redford’s internal dialogues the album seeks to illustrate the intersection of free will and prescribed destiny as it plays out ‘on the corner’. Utilizing a reverse narrative arc, the album begins as the listener finds Redford disoriented—postmortem—and attempting to make sense of his former life. As he moves through its pivotal moments he begins to deconstruct all that has led to his (and our own) coming undun.”

These seem to get better every time, so don’t forget to check back every week as The Roots release a video every Tuesday night at 12:06 a.m. until Dec. 6 when undun drops in full. You can watch the first two videos here, and the third one below:
