Where’s Waldo? to Find Its Way to the Big Screen
Not to be outdone by the recently announced Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? movie, everyone’s favorite lost red-and-white sweater enthusiast Waldo will also be receiving his own film.
MGM have gained the rights to the Classic Media property Where’s Waldo? The film will apparently be a worldwide adventure for Waldo and will be a live-action family film.
Waldo has been considered for films for a while now. Nickelodeon was interested, but changes in their parent company Paramount cancelled the project. Most recently, in 2009, Universal Studios and Illumination Entertainment had received the rights to make a film, but nothing was done with it.
While a lost man with a penchant for sweaters and walking sticks might not seem like much to build a movie around, Waldo has been seen in just more than books, which he has starred in since 1987. Waldo has also had his own magazine, a 13-episode animated series and several video games on everything from the NES to the iPad.
