Fans Reward Community With Cover Contest, Higher Ratings
Ever since NBC’s unjust announcement that the network was benching Community until sometime in 2012, the show has been riding a wave of much deserved success.
After a lengthy fan voting process, Dan Harmon’s comedy won TV Guide’s Fan Favorite contest and the show received three special edition covers that are on newsstands now. We also placed the show on our 20 Best TV Shows of 2011, where it was ranked second overall and was the highest rated comedy.
In addition to the fan and critical acclaim, the show also hit a two month high in viewership for last night’s “Foosball and Nocturnal Vigilantism” with 3.92 million viewers. That number is well about their average viewership total, and the numbers have been on a steady increase ever since NBC’s mid-season schedule announcement three episodes ago.
Fans of the show are clearly upset and have started numerous campaigns to show NBC that Community deserves to be on the air. A Save Community petition began circulating immediately, and #savecommunity and #sixseasonsandamovie have become popular with not only fans’ Twitter accounts, but even the cast’s as well.
