James Murphy, Will Sheff to Appear in New Film The Comedy

Both James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem and Will Sheff of Okkervil River have supporting roles in the upcoming independent film The Comedy, directed by Rick Alverson. The movie stars Tim Heidecker of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! in his first major dramatic role. The film was recently accepted to the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, where it will screen this coming January.

In The Comedy, Heidecker plays the indifferent Swanson, who “whiles away his days with a group of aging Brooklyn hipsters, engaging in acts of recreational cruelty and pacified boredom. Desensitized and disenchanted, he strays into a series of reckless situations that may offer the promise of redemption or the threat of retribution,” according to the official synopsis. James Murphy’s character in particular is part of the aforementioned group of aging hipsters.

The film is produced by independent record label JagJaguwar and Greyshack films.
